Vytenis Pavalkis Head of Products, WoraPay

Vytenis is an expert of core banking domain across a spectrum of different banking services and a PMI-certified project management professional (PMP). Starting from 2002, he spent most of his career working as a product owner and project manager, developing and improving financial services in banks and FinTech startups. Vytenis was a member of programme management teams, successfully implementing complex international core banking transformations in SEB and DnB banks, which aimed to replace legacy core banking systems with new solutions.

Currently, Vytenis is the Head of Products and drives innovations at WoraPay – a Lithuanian company which brought successful products into the UK market and managed to quickly engage with major accounts such as Lloyds banking group, MasterCard, major merchants and PSPs.

Maxim Spiridonov is CEO of the education company “Нетология-групп” (the group includes projects such as “Фоксфорд”, SmartLearning, and “Нетология”).

He has built several large web projects as a producer and a project manager.

Max has a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and a Master’s in Business Administration.

Max heard about Bitcoin for the first time in late 2013, right after completing his Master’s degree in Management. Max was immediately inspired by the innovative and disruptive technology behind Bitcoin and quickly made a name for himself in his local Bitcoin community in Kiev. Eventually, Max’s passion for Bitcoin drove him to co-found a Kiev-based software development studio and to found the Bitcoin Foundation Ukraine and Satoshi Square Kiev. Max worked for one of the biggest Bitcoin Cloud mining platforms prior to becoming Product manager and later Chief Operating Officer at Cubits.

Eugene Dugaev is responsible for IT and business technology development. Joined Rietumu Bank in 1998 as an innovator and leader of internet marketing and technology. Since 2001 – head of marketing for EU markets. In 2007 led the bank’s Department of Business Technology. Vesa Tukonen, 50, has spent over half of his life in the payments industry – in various supporting roles for card issuing businesses, B2B sales, product and business development as well as market and stakeholder management. Last 10 years Vesa has been at Visa Europe where his current role is multi market Country Manager.

Michael Firulik Director, Big Data Analytics Solutions, Mail.ru

Currently, Michael directs the Department of Data Analysis at Mail.ru Group. He is engaged in the creation and development of the areas associated with the segmentation of Internet users for targeted advertising, based on user behaviour on the Internet and on social networks; as well as the development of various techniques that use machine learning algorithms for the classification of Internet users. In parallel, Michael is working on the creation and development of the product, technological and scientific component of the new direction of Big data associated with the use of predictive mathematical models, marketing research and consulting in the area of infrastructure development and methodology of big data.

Michael’s teaching experience is associated with the project Technosphere, where he participates in the development and implementation of the courses ‘Algorithms for intelligent processing of large amounts of data’ and ‘Methods of distributed processing of large amounts of data in Hadoop’.

Kestutis Gardziulis Co-Founder, Business Development Director and former CEO, ETRONIKA

Vladimir Komissarov General Manager Russia, European Data Center Operator – DEAC

Vladimir Komissarov has been working in the IT industry since 1999. He studied at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), after graduating from the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI).
He started his career as a Service Support Specialist at Best Hosting, where he later advanced to a Senior System Engineer position. He was then invited to join the IT department at RusHydro.
In 2014 Vladimir started as a Sales Team Manager at DEAC’s representative office in Russia and now he is General Manager of DEAC in Russia. Vladimir is an expert in the field of world-class data centers and has competences in data security, cloud computing and telecommunications.

Liudas Kanapienis Head of Business Development, Paysera

Liudas Kanapienis is an IT specialist with more than 10 years of experience in the payments and project monetization industry. He studied medicine at Vilnius University for three years, but later changed his study field and gained a bachelor degree in Management and Business Administration at Vilnius University.

Currently Liudas works as the Head of Business Development at the growing e-money institution Paysera LT which develops the international payments system Paysera. He is responsible for the expansion of Paysera products in Lithuania, as well as in foreign markets. Since 2015 he has been developing the idea of how to help people find fixers and fixers manage their everyday tasks. This way he became a co-founder of the mobile application Fixipro.

Prior to his career at Paysera LT, Liudas had been developing his planning, business development, leadership and negotiation skills at the position of CEO of such companies, as Lietuvos farmacija, Cleanex, Bonus Gustus and PriceOn.

Liudas likes to create big things from scratch and believes that there is no luck, only hard work and a right attitude.

Gunnar Adalberth Director of Business Development, UPS Access Point

Gunnar Adalberth joined UPS in 1990 as an international marketing analyst at UPS’s former corporate headquarters in Greenwich, Connecticut, USA, until 1993, when he moved to Frankfurt, Germany. In the following years, he gained experience at the company through various positions in the marketing, strategy and business development teams. He moved around Europe, living and working in Germany, the UK, Belgium, and Sweden.

Between 2006 and 2009, Gunnar oversaw the management and growth of UPS’ revenues in the Nordic countries in his role of director of sales for Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Finland, and Norway.

In 2009, he was promoted to the position of UPS director of business development for the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games, managing the company’s relationships with all London 2012 sponsors and stakeholders. In this role, he successfully positioned UPS to provide competitive supply chain solutions to all relevant companies associated with the London 2012 Games.

In 2013, Gunnar was named director of business development for the UPS Access Point network. Launched in 2014, UPS Access Point locations are a flexible alternative to home delivery where busy consumers purchasing goods over the Internet can choose delivery and returns locations such as convenience stores, petrol stations and newsagents. Today, there are 16,000 UPS Access Point locations in Europe.

Gunnar was born in Stockholm, Sweden, where he also lives. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing & Management from Union University and obtained an MBA in International Marketing from The Owen School of Business at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Arnis Libenzons Head of e-Commerce, Tax Control Board, State Revenue Service of Latvia

Arnis graduated from RISEBA (Riga International School of Economics and Business Administration) in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in E-Commerce. The same year, he started working at the State Revenue Service of Latvia (SRS).

Since 2006, Arnis has worked in the area of transfer pricing. Since 2008, he has also done International project management as the designated multilateral project coordinator at SRS of Latvia.

Since 2014, Arnis has been part of OECD’s Task Force on Digital Economy (TFDE), which is a part of the BEPS project.

Since July 2015, he has been part of a 7-person EU wide project group – trainers group – creating training courses and delivering trainings to EU tax administrations in relation to international project management. Since

September 2016 he has also been involved in the EUROFISC group regarding e-commerce.

Since April 18 2016, Arnis has been the Head of the E-Commerce team in the Tax Control Board of SRS of Latvia.

Alexander is a Partner in ruNet – VC fund investing across Russia, the EU, India and the USA. ruNet was founded in 1999 and has since backed market leading companies like Yandex, OZON, DeliveryHero, and Snapdeal. Currently ruNet’s portfolio consists of over 40 active investments in e-commerce, entertainment, local search, marketplace, and SaaS segments.
Alexander joined ruNet in 2008 and is currently responsible for their portfolio build up in Europe and Russia. Alexander sits on the board of several of ruNet’s companies: 2GIS, Dawanda, and Mamsy.

Maurits Bruggink Secretary General of EMOTA, the European Multi-channel and Online Trade Association

In April 2015, Maurits Bruggink was appointed Secretary General of EMOTA, the European Multi-channel and Online Trade Association. His main task is representing the interests of the sector to policymakers at a European level and in Member States.

Maurits has been involved in international advocacy, government affairs and trade association management for 25 years in different positions. Maurits started as lawyer at the European Union Office of Arthur Andersen & C°, followed by a long spell as Managing Director at Brussels’s based lobby firm Grayling.

Maurits has great experience in managing European and international trade associations. He has been secretary general of several trade associations, covering sectors as diverse as spirit drinks, toys, metals, gambling and sports.

For the last five years, Maurits has been Executive Director of the European Direct Selling Association, where he dealt with a number of similar issues as faced by the online sector, such as consumer protection, marketing practices, digital agenda, a.o.

Maurits holds a Master in International Trade Law from the University of Leiden, Holland. Maurits is 52 years old and is fluent in English, French, German, Dutch and Spanish.

Mark Harrison Head of Markets, International Post Corporation

The team provides essential knowledge on trends affecting the strategic direction of the postal industry, while assisting postal operators to achieve profitable growth through innovation. Being an independent research body at the heart of the postal industry means that findings are objective, non-partisan and cost-effective.

Mark’s team is responsible for conducting research and analysis on market needs for cross-border e-Commerce and for translating these into postal service specifications to provide online retailers and SMEs the possibility to expand their business to global customers. As such Mark works regularly with senior executives from global platforms including Alibaba, Amazon, eBay, Google and Rakuten, as well as with academics and consultants specialising in the global supply chain.

Mark was responsible for launching the IPC Environmental Measurement and Monitoring System in 2009. The EMMS programme measures participant’s carbon management proficiency, carbon performance indicators and emissions and progress towards the target of reducing the global postal sector’s carbon emissions by 20% by 2020. Since its launch, the programme has been extended to include postal operators in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, North and South America.

Prior to IPC, Mark worked for Royal Mail for 14 years in both the International and Electronic Service business units where he undertook a variety of marketing and operational roles.
Mark has a degree in Chemistry from the City University in London, a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing and an MBA from Westminster University, London.

Sander Gansen Chief Marketing Officer, Shipitwise

Officially, Sander Gansen is Chief Marketing Officer of Shipitwise, leading Shipitwise’s department of marketing and PR. But as The Hustler, he’s also taking care of all the fundraising and investor communication.

Before joining Shipitwise, Sander launched two other startups, QuikTract (on-demand builders) and QuikCamp (on-demand camping), both of which were shut down when Sander realised he wasn’t following his heart when building them.

Dirk Avau is the founder and CEO of IntellectEU. IntellectEU is an international technology company with core expertise in financial integration and middleware solutions. Alexander Magomedov Chief Commercial Officer, Yandex.Money

Alexander graduated from the Moscow State Aviation Technological University and the Finance University under the Government of the Russian Federation.

From 2008 to 2011, he worked at the ASCON group. Alexander joined the team at Yandex.Money in 2011, where he led the department on payment business development, worked to expand the service’s network of payment agents, launched multiple card acquiring projects, and partnered with leading banks and money transfer systems to release joint products. Alexander also played a key role in the creation of Yandex Payment Solution, a service specifically designed to enable online stores to accept payments via all the most popular methods — from bank cards to mobile phone accounts.

Today, Yandex Payment Solution is in use by over 75,000 online platforms including Apple iTunes, Skype, Nintendo etc. Currently, Alexander heads up the Sales and Commerce Department, where he is in charge of the strategy and development of the B2B side of Yandex.Money’s business.

Craig is CEO of Neopay Ltd and a specialist in E-Money/PrePaid Anti Money Laundering and Financial Services compliance. He has over 15 years experience in the industry having held Head of Compliance, Compliance Director and Global MLRO positions.

Craig is currently one of the few practicing consultants in the UK to have held the Controlled Functions of Compliance Director and MLRO within both an Authorised Electronic Money Institution (AEMI) and a traditional retail investment Firm. Christian Andrè Chmiel CEO, Web Shield Limited

Christian A. Chmiel, CHRU (WSA), CFE, B.A., is Chief Executive Officer of Web Shield Limited in London, responsible for the development and implementation of new investigation techniques and research tools to identify fraudulent or brand damaging online merchants. Before he served as the Deputy Head of Compliance with Wirecard Bank AG in Germany, and specialized in online fraud investigations, credit card compliance and underwriting for acquiring banks.

He has served clients across a wide range of sectors, including financial services, IT software, entertainment, travel and health. Christian has undertaken assignments in the mainland Europe, Israel, Georgia, North America and the United Arabian Emirates. He brings deep experience in conducting investigations into fraudulent intentions of online merchants, risk calculations and forecasting methodologies.

Christian is a Certified Fraud Examiner (ACFE) and a Certified High-Risk Underwriter (WSA), and holds a bachelor’s and Diploma degree in European Business Administration. Denis Persanov Corporate Risk Manager, QIWI

Jon Matonis Founding Director, Bitcoin Foundation; CEO, Globitex

An e-Money researcher and crypto economist focused on expanding the circulation of nonpolitical digital currencies, Jon advises startups in Bitcoin, gaming, mobile and prepaid.

Pieter Poorthuis BitPay Amsterdam, Senior Sales Engineer

Pieter is responsible for sales and implementation for BitPay’s European merchants and Payment Service Providers.

Before that Pieter worked eight years for banks and Payment Service Providers, specialising on mobile payment implementation for retail environments. His latest role was leading an interbanking committee for ‘Mobile Payments Netherlands’.

Vadim joined the Mail.Ru team in February, 2013 and headed the project “Money” (money.mail.ru). He is responsible for acceptance of payments in all projects of Mail.Ru Group: social networks (VKontakte (VK), Odnoklassniki (OK) and Moi Mir (My World)), Online Games, Target, etc. in Russia, the CIS and Georgia. Besides that, developing payments for My.com projects in Europe, the US and LatAm.

For more than 10 years Vadim works in the sphere of electronic and mobile commerce. In 2011 together with Beeline and Alfa-Bank started the payment service RURU.ru.
Vadim has worked in multinational corporations Motorola, SUN Microsystems and successful Russian startups such as Luxoft Dell, Technology of Processing, MOBI.Money. He also worked on technological IT solutions, creation of startups and bringing to the market new products and services.

Victor Dostov President, Russian Electronic Money Association

Dr. Dostov is President of the Russian Electronic Money Association, an organisation representing the largest electronic money operators and money transfer companies in Russia. With a background in management, research and investment in payment technology projects, Victor is one of the leading experts in the field. He advises public bodies on drafting regulation for electronic money in Russia and continues to provide his expertise on the further evolution of the legal framework – especially prudential supervision and AML/CFT issues. He has previously held a position of founding partner in PayCash Group where he contributed to the launch of successful projects both in Russia (Yandex.Money, Beeline mobile commerce, etc) and abroad. Victor is known as an ardent proponent of using hi-tech payment instruments for enhancing financial inclusion and therefore provides his expertise in CGAP, AFI, FATF and Eurasian Group.

Dr. Dostov gives lectures on new technologies and is a frequent speaker at international events. He is also a columnist, and has authored publications on new payment methods. He is a regional author for “Financial Regulation International” (Informa) and a member of an expert board for the Settlements and Transactions in a Commercial Bank Journal.

Vladimir Malugin Regional Director, Chairman, PayPal Russia

Vladimir Malugin is Regional Director of PayPal Russia, leading PayPal’s business in the Russian market, driving growth and actively developing business strategy.

Before joining LLC NBCI “PayPal RU”, Vladimir worked at HTC as General Manager for Middle East, his core responsibilities covered development of retail and distribution business, marketing and entry into new markets. Before 2011 he was a Marketing director of HTC in EMEA and actively participated in brand creation and HTC positioning in the market.

Kostas Rossoglou Head of EU Public Policy, Yelp

Kostas Rossoglou holds the position of Head of EU Public Policy for Yelp, Inc. He covers all of Yelp’s public policy issues in the EU, namely competition in the online space, Digital Single Market related issues, consumer protection among others.

Kostas previously worked for the European Consumer Organisation (BEUC) as Senior Legal Officer, where we led the digital team and worked on digital related issues, including competition, Intellectual Property Rights, privacy and e-commerce. He has also been a public affairs consultant in Brussels and a lawyer in Greece and in Malta.

He has a Masters Degree in EU law. He speaks fluent English, French and Spanish and has basic knowledge of Russian. He is a Greek national.

Prabhat Agarwal Deputy Head of Unit, E-Commerce & Platforms, DG Connect, European Commission

Prabhat Agarwal works for the European Commission as Deputy Head of Unit for eCommerce and Online Platforms. With a background in science, technology and innovation, his current interests lie in the platform economy, data science and artificial intelligence.

Prabhat holds a PhD in Quantum Physics from Cambridge University, and works in industrial nanotechnology R&D before joining the European Commission where he has been involved in a wide range of digital policy related initiatives. He lives in Brussels with his wife and three kids.

Elie Beyrouthy Director International Regulatory Affairs, Western Union

Since 2012, Elie Beyrouthy is Director for International Regulatory Affairs at Western Union. As such, he engages with policy makers, regulators and supervisors globally. Based in Brussels, Mr. Beyrouthy has a specific focus on the European Union’s Institutions and financial services legislation.

Prior to joining Western Union, Mr. Beyrouthy was Head of the Institutional Relations Department at the World Savings Banks Institute specializing in government advocacy and financial services legislation with International Institutions (e.g. World Bank, FATF, OECD, CGAP).

From 2007 to 2011, Mr. Beyrouthy worked as Legal Adviser and Public Affairs Manager at the European Banking Federation. His areas of expertise include financial services regulation, AML/CFT compliance, corporate governance and payment issues. Mr. Beyrouthy is a visiting law professor at the University of Lyon in France where he teaches International Banking Law.

Mr. Beyrouthy holds an LL.M. (Master of Law) from the University of Minnesota and a Master’s Degree in International Business Law from the University of Lyon. He is also a graduate of the Institute of Political Studies in Lyon. Elie is a former intern of the European Commission and the U.S. Federal District Courts.

Prior to the creation of Data Insight, Boris acquired a diversified research experience in Internet and telecom markets working at SpyLOG (now Openstat), J’son & Partners, and SUP Media (now part of Rambler&Co).

Sergey Kotyrev CEO, Umi

Sergey is known as a bright figure in Russian IT, regularly participating in IT-events and conferences, being an author of a number of brilliant publications, interviews and courses on internet-marketing and e-commerce.

He has an MBA degree and two degrees in economics and management from the St-Petersburg State Marine Technical University and Stockholm School of Economics.

In 2000, Sergey founded UMI Studio, a web agency that held a leading position in Russians northwest area and gained about 30 professional awards.

In 2007, along with his partners, Sergey founded Umisoft IT-company aimed to produce and support UMI.CMS, a software platform for website development and management. It took only 2 years for the new product to take a position among top Russian CMS platforms. In 2011 Sergey launched UMI.ru – a website builder based on UMI.CMS platform. For today the service has built over 1 mln websites. In 2015 1C company became one of Umisoft shareholders.

Sergey took part in launching several other startups: UMIHOST (a hosting provider), UMI.Cloud (a SaaS-platform), Twinitor.com (infoservice).

Jevgenjis Novickis CEO, Swipe.lv

Jevgenijs is 26 years old and holds a Master’s degree in Entrepreneurship and Management from Riga Technical University. He founded a digital production studio to work on the NARR8 project (1m+ downloads worldwide). He also co-founded Qfer, a mobile app for digital offer distribution (140k downloads in the Baltics).

Jevgenijs is currently the CEO and co-founder of Swipe, a toolkit for online invoicing and payments. He is interested in Fintech, web, and mobile technologies.

Ilya Kretov Director of Operations and Marketing for Emerging Europe and Africa, eBay

Ilya Kretov was appointed as Head of Marketing for eBay Russia in February 2013. In 2015 he became Director of Operations and Marketing for Emerging Europe and Africa at eBay.

Between 2011 and 2013 Ilya Kretov was responsible for the development of Google Search, Chrome, Google+, YouTube, Play and Maps as Head of B2C marketing at Google Russia.

In 2002-2008 Ilya worked at MARS Russia and was responsible for procurements, marketing and brand management of TWIX, BOUNTY, MARS and SNICKERS.

Prior to that, Ilya Kretov held courses on information systems at ITMO University, Saint Petersburg. He also helped to develop international exchange programs for AISEC NPO in Saint Petersburg as Head of the Outbound Internship Department.

Ilya holds a Master’s degree in Information Systems for Economics from Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation.

Andrey Kovalev Subject Matter Expert

Andrey Kovalev in an expert in online payments and security. He joined the ThreatMetrix team from Yandex.Money where he was Chief Security Officer and responsible for all security-related activities. At Yandex.Money he assumed the lead role in building an efficient information security team and built up good working relationships with law enforcement agencies. His areas of expertise are information security, fraud management and electronic payments.

In his current role at ThreatMetrix, Andrey works with major European customers in implementing advanced digital identity solutions; helping eCommerce companies and Financial Institutions to slash fraud, improve user experience and drive additional revenue online.
